Verizon Business Furthers Worldwide Maintained Solutions Collection Growth by VMware.

BARCELONA, Spain – Mobile World Congress 2022 — Verizon Business today announced the inclusion of VMware to its global managed Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) service portfolio that is part of Verizon’s Managed WAN Service. The new service, designed for global companies that are cloud-ready and partners, will help Verizon’s partner ecosystem by offering managed SD-WAN services in their Network as a Service (NaaS) strategy.

“These recent two years have witnessed huge adoption for managed SD-WAN transform on the edge of the WAN,” stated Massimo Piselli, Senior Vice President of Global Enterprise, Verizon Business. “This latest VMware managed service solution will increase the possibilities for customers looking for centralized information and efficiency on the WAN edge. Another instance of Verizon Business partnering to offer the best-of-breed solutions to aid our customers’ transformation needs.”

Verizon’s managed services are the technology evolving to meet the ever-changing requirements of the global enterprise customer. With applications and users becoming ever more dispersed and distributed, the wide-area network (WAN) can be challenging to implement and not flexible, which, in turn, is a significant bottleneck for providing the same user experience. Verizon’s Managed SD-WAN addresses these issues and limitations and is built specifically for the modern cloud-based enterprise. It facilitates seamless connections of users to applications across multiple infrastructures, providing the same user experience regardless of the device or transport type. It improves bandwidth efficiency, which reduces costs, rapid deployment, simplified operation, and performance enhancements. It is extensible and flexible to increase business agility, with the capability to serve massive global customers.

VMware SD-WAN, which is a component of VMware SASE, is based on the cloud as the primary resource for applications for customers, and the structure of the solution includes three main elements:

SD-WAN centralized orchestration: The VMware Orchestrator is a central orchestration platform that provides centralized policy, monitoring, reports, and analytics through the Verizon Enterprise Center.

SDWAN Gateways with controllers VMware Gateways are the point of presence (PoPs) worldwide, enabling customers’ edge devices to maximize latency and manage plane traffic.

VMware SD-WAN Side:┬áVerizon deploys VMware Side devices at a client’s site and then configures orchestrators to use the appropriate policies to send out these edge devices to ease SD-WAN request routing.

Craig Connors, vice leader and standard supervisor of VMware’s SASE business, stated, “The future generation of apps will operate at the edge, which means that enterprises need to modernize their networks to support these apps. VMware SD-WAN, a component of our larger SASE platform, offers security and reliability that is more secure connectivity between enterprise networks and modern applications and ultimately enhances the experience for end-users. With the addition of this service to its SD-WAN offerings, Verizon is streamlining its enterprise customers’ move into the next generation.”
